Personally, I have been playing for nearly 5 years now. The improvements over the years on the most part were for the better. However the game remains off balance. Offensively they often match you with more developed villages so flipping through several bases is important before selecting someone to attack. Defensively, I find myself being attacked by considerably more developed villages that takes high amounts of collected resources. As ones resources get plentiful, but not yet enough to buy anything, strategies must be used in order to reach the quantity needed or you go nowhere. This requires the player to play according to the game and not on their own schedule or else you can often expect no gain or a decent loss. So the game is dictating to the user when to play in order to progress. For some people this may not be an issue but is NOT an option for others. For this reason I have found myself no longer progressing in the game (or just painfully slow) and gradually considering to quit. Spending money to advance is the biggest waste, think about what you are trading. A loss of real money to bypass playing, which is the point of a game. In other words, spending money to bypass the game challenge. I think the word for this is counterproductive.
So i would rate this game at 3 out of 5. A great time killer but less fun as you progress.
